Clyde & Co. to Merge with Dallas’ Tillman Batchelor

January 2, 2025 Nick Peck

Clyde & Co., a global law firm based in the UK, announced on Jan. 2 that it is expanding into the Texas legal market by merging with Dallas’ Tillman Batchelor, an insurance litigation-focused firm.

By adding Tillman Batchelor, the London-based firm is further strengthening its global insurance practice. The move will also help the firm expand its presence in the southwestern United States, complementing its existing 19 offices and over 400 attorneys across North America.

“Texas is an important market for our U.S. and global insurance clients seeking coverage and defense services, and we are pleased to strengthen our team and southwest presence to better serve them,” Carolena Gordon, a senior partner at Clyde & Co based in Montreal, said in a recent release.

As part of the merger, Tillman Batchelor founders Mark Tillman and Colin Batchelor joined Clyde & Co. as partners and will be joined by their six-member team.

“We have a long-standing relationship with Clyde & Co., and this merger was the natural next step for us, with clear synergies between our practices and clients,” Tillman said in a recent release, noting that both the firm’s existing clients and team members stand to benefit significantly from the merger.

Tillman, Batchelor and their team focus on defending first-party and bad-faith insurance litigation and providing insurance coverage advice across different industry sectors.

“As our clients’ needs become more complex, this merger further reinforces our position as the leader in insurance coverage litigation in the U.S. and globally,” Gordon said.
