Fisher Phillips has hired veteran litigator Cheryl Blount as a partner in Houston, the labor and employment law firm announced in a news release.
The first chair trial lawyer joins Fisher Phillips from the Houston office of Reed Smith, where she worked for nearly eight years, most recently as a senior associate. Before that, she spent a year-and-a-half at Butch Boyd Law Firm as an associate.
“Fisher Phillips has been growing its Texas footprint by attracting the best legal talent in the region, and I am thrilled to continue the momentum with the hiring of a lawyer of Cheryl’s caliber,” said Emily Harbison, Regional Managing Partner of the firm’s Houston office, in the release. “I have worked with Cheryl for several years and have firsthand knowledge of her ability to serve as a trusted counselor, advisor, and relentless defender of employers in a wide variety of complex employment disputes. I’m looking forward to working alongside her again, and I am delighted to welcome her to the team here in Houston.”
Harbison, who was at Reed Smith for nearly four years and practiced at Baker McKenzie for 14 years prior to that, was named regional managing partner of Fisher Phillips in June. The firm has experienced significant growth in Texas, adding more than a dozen lawyers across its offices in Dallas and Houston within the past year.
