James “Jim” Davidson has joined Hogan Lovells as a partner in its capital markets division, specifically within the firm’s real estate investment trust practice.
He brings more than 15 years of experience, having advised on more than 200 REIT transactions. His portfolio includes unique financings, such as the first Mexican FIBRA (comparable to a U.S. REIT), the only postal REIT and others, according to a news release.
Davidson, who has been a partner at Hunton Andrews Kurth since 2011, will be operating out of the firm’s Washington, D.C., and Houston offices.
“I am excited to join Hogan Lovells,” said Davidson in the release. “The firm’s stellar reputation in advising REITs and its experience in the private credit and the real estate sector — along with a collaborative culture that operates well in an environment where clients’ needs are often cross-practice and multi-jurisdictional — provides an ideal platform for me to expand my practice and continue delivering exceptional results for clients.”
“Jim has developed a strong reputation in the REIT space and we’re very happy to be expanding our preeminent REIT team into Texas,” said Bruce Oakley, the managing partner of Hogan Lovells’ Houston office, in the release.
AREAS OF FOCUS
Davidson specializes in REIT transactions, corporate governance and securities market regulation. He advises on public and private debt and equity offerings — including initial public offerings, convertible offerings, and high-yield debt financings, as well as ESG-related matters. Transactions he has handled in recent years include several billion dollars’ of senior notes offerings by issuers such as Rexford Industrial and Promerica Financial Corp., IPOs by REITs including Postal Realty Trust, Nexpoint Real Estate Finance and Alpine Income Property Trust, and numerous follow-on and at the market equity offerings for a dozen REIT clients, according to the release.
