Kilpatrick Bolsters Houston Office

February 5, 2026 Jason Philyaw

Kilpatrick added another experienced energy attorney to its Houston office.

Barclay Nicholson joined the firm’s construction and infrastructure team in December after nearly four years as a founding partner of the Sheppard Mullin office in Houston. Prior to that, he spent more than 21 years as an energy and commercial litigation partner with Norton Rose Fulbright.

Lee Mann, an Atlanta-based partner and chair of Nicholson’s new team called him “one of the nation’s preeminent construction defects and energy litigation attorneys” and said he will advise Kilpatrick clients in “matters driven by infrastructure expansion, energy transition, tech-driven energy demand, and tightening insurance markets.”

Kilpatrick said Nicholson has expertise related to unconventional development and hydraulic fracturing that will help the firm “capture complex, cross-sector disputes — especially where engineering, tech industry needs, and construction intersect with energy operations,” according to Pat Gaas, managing partner of Houston office.

“Kilpatrick’s robust platform can better assist my practice,” Nicholson said in a release. “Clients will also have greater access to a team of sophisticated commercial litigation and construction attorneys across the firm who can support their diverse needs.”

Nicholson earned a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from the University of Houston.
