Perkins Coie announced Tuesday that it is adding a group of three Texas-based partners, Kyle Fox, Richard Dusenbury and John-Paul Haskins, to its M&A and PE practice.
The trio joins Perkins Coie from Greenberg Traurig, where each group member worked for at least five years, primarily serving clients within its M&A and PE practice group.
“We’re thrilled that such a high-caliber team of transactional lawyers has joined us in Texas to accelerate our extensive M&A capabilities serving companies and investors across Texas, the United States and increasingly Europe. The group’s addition demonstrates Perkins Coie’s commitment to an increasingly dynamic and active Texas market, as well as our broader private equity platform, and we know that Kyle, Richard and JP will hit the ground running for our clients,” Brian Eiting, the firm’s New York-based co-chair of its corporate practice, said in a recent release.
In their new roles, Fox will work out of Perkins Coie’s Austin office, while Dusenbury and Haskins will work out of its Dallas office.
In addition, the trio will bring a wide range of experience, as each group member has worked across several different business sectors and industries, including advising PE firms, venture-backed companies and other private businesses on various transaction types.
“We’re eager to expand our solutions and work for private equity funds, their portfolio companies and other private companies, supported by the firm’s top-tier strengths in complementary areas such as IP, litigation, employment and data privacy. Joining Perkins Coie significantly enhances our ability to deliver this service for clients,” Fox said.
Outside of the M&A and PE work that the new group will work on once fully integrated into the firm, the trio will also advise clients on corporate governance and securities matters.
“Perkins Coie represents the ideal strategic fit for the clients we represent and the entrepreneurial mindset that our clients appreciate and expect us to deliver for each transaction,” Haskins said.
Fox, who spent over seven years as a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig before joining Perkins Coie, obtained his bachelor’s in philosophy, economics and political Science from the University of Wisconsin in 1992 before earning his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1995.
Dusenbury, who spent just under six years with Greenberg Traurig as a shareholder and associate attorney, obtained his bachelor’s degree in business from Texas A&M University in 2011 and his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2015.
Haskins, the longest-tenured member at Greenberg Traurig of the three, spent over eight years as an of counsel at the firm. He obtained his bachelor’s in government business from the University of Texas in 2012 and his J.D. from Baylor University School of Law in 2016.
As the group embarks on its newest journey with Perkins Coie, it will leverage its extensive experience in the M&A and PE space to serve its current and future Perkins Coie clients effectively.
“The Texas economy continues to be one of the country’s most advantageous for a business, and joining Perkins Coie positions us to help our clients take full benefit of a wide range of investment opportunities,” Dusenbury said.
