Sheppard Mullin Adds Healthcare Partner in Houston

April 3, 2025 Michelle Casady

For the second time in two weeks, Sheppard Mullin announced Thursday that it has added a partner to its healthcare practice group.

Tammy Woffenden comes to the firm from Troutman Pepper Locke, where, prior to the firm’s merger with Troutman Pepper, she was co-chair of Locke Lord’s healthcare practice group. She had been with the firm since September 2006.

In a statement, Woffenden called the move “an incredible opportunity.”

“I am excited to reunite with several former colleagues and continue to serve my clients by leveraging Sheppard Mullin’s expansive resources and industry expertise to help them navigate evolving regulatory challenges and drive growth for their business,” she said.

She focuses her practice on advising healthcare clients — including hospitals, health systems, pharmacies, home health and hospice agencies and assisted living facilities — on transactional and regulatory matters, including private equity, mergers and acquisitions and compliance.

Firm chair Luca Salvi said in a statement that Woffenden was an “invaluable addition” to the firm.

“Texas is a robust healthcare market,” he said. “Tammy and our other new partners in our Dallas and Houston offices underscore our commitment to continuing to grow our healthcare team in Texas with the best healthcare lawyers in the state and in the country.”

Woffenden holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from its law school in 2006.

Co-leader of Sheppard Mullin’s healthcare industry team, Eric Klein, said in a statement that Woffenden will bring “added depth to our cutting-edge post-acute care and value-based care practice.”

“Tammy’s broad-based experience combined with her specialized knowledge in post-acute care and innovative care delivery models strengthen our ability to support new and existing clients in a rapidly evolving industry,” he said.

Last week, Sheppard Mullin added Todd Rosenberg as a partner in its D.C. office. And over the past year, the firm has hired 17 lateral partners, including Texas additions Gene Besen, Elisha Kobre, Scarlett Singleton Nokes and Ashley Wheelock.
