Sorrels Law Launches Beaumont Office with Veteran Maritime Litigator David James

May 13, 2025 Jeff Schnick

Sorrels Law has expanded its Texas footprint again, this time by opening an office in Beaumont led by newly named partner David James, the firm announced in a news release on Tuesday.

With more than two decades of experience, James has represented clients in some of the largest maritime cases in the region and served energy companies with operations across Southeast Texas, according to the release.

“David James brings our firm an immediate presence in the Southeast Texas litigation community,” said name partner Randy Sorrels in the release. “This part of the state is well known for the extraordinary legal talent on both sides of the bar, and David’s perfect blend of education, real world experience, trial experience, grit and work ethic will fit right in. We are honored he joined our firm as a partner and he will make an immediate impact for our team.”

James will serve as the head of Sorrels Law’s maritime practice. He previously spent eight years in the Beaumont area at Clark Hill, seven of them as a partner. Prior to that, he was a partner at Stevens Baldo & Lighty.

AREAS OF FOCUS
James specializes in maritime and admiralty law, energy litigation, personal injury and wrongful death cases, insurance disputes, petrochemical plant litigation, as well as railroad and trucking litigation.
