Thompson Coburn Adds Dallas Partner to its Real Estate Practice

August 5, 2025 Jeff Schnick

Thompson Coburn has hired Steven Smith as a partner in its Dallas real estate practice, the firm announced in a news release.

Smith’s experience includes complex real estate transactions, commercial financing and bankruptcy proceedings, bolstering Thompson Coburn’s ability to serve clients in Dallas across its national platform.

“Steven is a fantastic addition to our growing team in Texas,” said Nicole Williams, managing partner of Thompson Coburn’s Dallas office, in the release. “His strong background in complex commercial real estate transactions and bankruptcy work makes him an immediate asset to the firm as we expand our reach and strategic services across the region.”

Smith was previously at Dorsey & Whitney. Before that, he was a member with Frost Brown Todd in Dallas, according to the release, and prior to that role, he opened the Dallas office of Perkins Coie, where he was its office managing partner.

“It’s a pleasure to be joining Thompson Coburn, especially as its Dallas presence continues to grow at an impressive pace,” said Smith in the release. “I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues across practices locally and nationally to deliver innovative and comprehensive solutions to our clients.”

AREAS OF FOCUS
Smith concentrates on all aspects of commercial real estate ownership and financing, particularly representing conduit and other lenders and borrowers in areas such as commercial real estate financing, loan modifications, CMBS servicing issues and related bankruptcy and restructuring proceedings.
