It’s finally here. More than a year after Texas lawmakers created the Texas business court and Fifteenth Court of Appeals, both will officially open September 1.
Both business leaders and legal professionals have been a mixture of anxious and excited, but all are eager to understand more about the changes the new courts will bring to business litigation across the state.
Haynes Boone assembled a Texas Business Courts Task Force to track rule changes and decisions and to provide guidance to clients with questions about the new system. In the firm’s latest “Legal Landscape” podcast, litigation partner David Harper, appellate partner Ben Mesches and litigation counsel Heather Barger walk through some of the more common concerns including:
- How will the court handle complex commercial disputes?
- What types of cases will it hear?
- What is the fee structure?
- How will this impact businesses across the state?
Whether you’re a business owner, in-house counsel or a legal practitioner, the podcast is a thorough primer on “What to Know Before the New Texas Business Court Opens”, and that date…is here.
