(Sept. 6) – Dallas deal lawyer Christina Marshall, a former executive vice president and general counsel at Chalak Mitra Group, has rejoined Haynes and Boone, the firm she started her career and made partner at.
Marshall says she has been “homesick” since leaving Haynes and Boone.
“I know and admire so many lawyers at the firm,” she says. “Haynes and Boone offers a great platform for my clients and I was also enticed by the firm’s desire to expand its middle market corporate strategic acquisitions practice.”
Marshall, who received her law degree from SMU in 2006, was the top lawyer at Chalak Mitra Group, a Dallas-based group of investment companies in the hospitality and sports industries, from 2015 to 2017. She says the experience gave her a “deeper appreciation for the stresses faced by in-house lawyers.
“They are pulled in so many different ways and face incredible time constraints,” she adds. “They depend on their outside counsel to give them specific, concrete solutions to their legal issues. And they want those solutions delivered in the most efficient manner possible.”
During her tenure at Chalak Mitra, the company sold or restructured all of its smaller restaurant brands. She also helped the company conduct a significant refinancing of its senior credit facility to allow the company’s founders to buy out first-generation investors and acquire 100 percent of the equity.
Most recently, Marshall was a principal at Keating Marshall, where she advised clients on M&A matters and other transactions, including joint ventures, securities law issues and debt and equity offerings.
At Haynes and Boone, Marshall will focus on advising companies on middle market mergers and acquisitions.
