SEC Assistant Director of Enforcement Joins Kirkland in Dallas

April 3, 2024 Mark Curriden

A veteran enforcement lawyer with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has joined Kirkland & Ellis’s Dallas office as a partner.

Sarah Mallett served in the SEC’s Fort Worth Regional Office for seven and a half years, including the last three years as assistant director of enforcement. She was involved in several major cases, including the SEC’s 2022 case charging the Crosby Independent School District and its chief financial officer and chief auditor with misleading municipal bond investors.

Mallett, a 2011 graduate of the Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law and former judicial intern for then-U.S. Magistrate and now Fifth Circuit Appeals Court Judge Irma Ramirez, joins Kirkland’s government, regulatory and investigations practice, which includes Erin Nealy Cox, the former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.

“Sarah is an exceptional enforcement lawyer and leader in the investigations and regulatory space, and a great fit for our premier government, regulatory and internal investigations team,” said Asheesh Goel, a government, regulatory and internal investigations partner and member of Kirkland’s executive committee.

Prior to joining the SEC in 2017, Mallett was an associate at Haynes Boone in Dallas.
