Holland & Knight announced an addition to its financial services team in Dallas on Wednesday, recruiting Taylor Speers from Winston & Strawn.
Speers specializes in structured finance transactions and residential mortgage loan services. More specifically, he represents clients on the purchases and sales of mortgage servicing rights, purchases and sales of whole loans, repurchase and other financing facilities, servicing and origination platform acquisitions, and acquisitions of excess servicing strips.
“Taylor’s extensive experience working with Fintech finance companies and focusing on mortgage financing services will significantly enhance our finance capabilities,” Matthew Fontane, co-chair of the Holland & Knight’s financial services team, said in the announcement.
After working the first three years of his career at Locke Lord and the now defunct storied Fort Worth law firm Shannon Gracey, Speers joined the in-house legal department of Caliber Home Loans, where he was the lead transactional counsel. During his tenure, Caliber’s servicing portfolio grew from approximately $4 billion to $50 billion.
Speers returned to Big Law at Perkins Coie and later Cadwalader before his most recent stint at Winston & Strawn.
