Energy lawyer Jeremy Mouton joined Houston-based Porter Hedges as a partner last week.
Mouton spent the last three years at Oklahoma City-based Commercial Law Group, P.C., which functions as primary outside counsel for Chesapeake Energy Corporation on corporate asset transactions. He said he and his wife made the decision to relocate to Houston in order to accommodate both of their careers following completion of his wife’s medical fellowship.
“Coming from a fantastic small firm in Oklahoma City with sophisticated energy work deal work and with a warm, close-knit culture, I was thrilled to find that same unique mix in Porter Hedges at a larger firm,” he said.
Mouton, whose practice focuses on advising oil and gas companies on a variety of corporate, transactional and commercial matters, said with the resources and relationships Porter Hedges has, he expects the breadth of his practice will increase.
“Until now, the majority of my energy practice has been on the upstream A&D side, though I expect that going forward I’ll see a more even distribution of upstream and midstream transactional work,” he said.
Prior to his time at the Commercial Law Group, P.C., the 2002 University of Texas School of Law graduate was associate general counsel for Anheuser-Busch InBev in St. Louis. Mouton began his career as an associate with Bracewell & Giuliani in Houston.
