CDT Roundup: A Diverse Week for M&A and a Low Moment for Capital Markets

October 25, 2026 Jason Philyaw

The week ended Oct. 24 with 11 deals valued at $11.6 billion — all of them M&A transactions or fundings. By contrast, The Roundup reported on just seven deals worth $3.6 billion for the week prior, though last year at this time, there were 19 deals valued at $61.47 billion.

The absence of capital markets transactions is worth noting. In six of the last nine weeks, we’ve reported three had only one capital markets transaction and another three had none at all. With an election approaching, a global rise in government bond yields and lingering concerns about the cost of borrowing, their absence may simply signal a rational interruption. But consider the underwhelming activity duly noted.
