$100M Dispute in Synergy v. Blackbrush Reaches Jury

October 21, 2026 Alexa Shrake

Twelve Dallas County residents heard closing arguments Wednesday afternoon in the highly contentious breach-of-contract case between clean-energy developer Synergy Thermogen and Blackbrush Oil & Gas.

Synergy is seeking more than $100 million in damages, accusing Blackbrush of using its access to the company to delay progress and defraud investors. Blackbrush says Synergy is owed “nothing” and is asking jurors to return its $1.5 million investment. The Texas Business Court jury trial before Judge Bill Whitehill began Oct. 8 with opening statements in the Merrill Hartman Courtroom at the George Allen Courts Building.
