By Brooks Igo – (October 8) – Gray Reed recently announced it beefed up its corporate and tax practice by picking up Dan Kroll, a longtime partner at Baker Botts.
Kroll joins the Houston office as a shareholder and will advise clients on the tax, structuring and business issues facing the real estate industry and other private equity arrangements. He has represented Houston-based real estate firms Hines Interests Limited Partnership and Sueba USA Corporation.
One of his specialties is advising on joint venture formations and operations with pension funds and other tax exempt entities with respect to unrelated business income tax matters involving U.S. and Canadian real estate investments by non-U.S. persons.
He is also a CPA and adjunct professor of law at the University of Houston Law Center, where he has taught L.L.M. students about federal income tax consequences of real estate investments and transactions since 2006.
