(May 6) – Winstead recently announced the three recipients of the firm’s Juris Doctor Scholarships, a program designed to benefit outstanding first-year ethnically diverse law students.
Mariana Yee-Trejo of the University of Houston Law Center, Kirsten Johansson of the University of Texas School of Law and Jake Torres of SMU’s Dedman School of Law were honored at three separate receptions hosted by Winstead at the firm’s Houston, Austin and Dallas offices during the weeks of April 20 and April 27.
The Winstead Juris Doctor Scholarship, in its eighth year, assists exceptional first-year ethnically diverse law students at UH, UT and SMU. The winners receive a cash award and an offer in Winstead’s Summer Associate Program.
Additionally, the scholarship recipients are presented with a $1,500 grant they direct to a student interest group of their choice. Trejo, Johansson and Torres each chose their law school’s Hispanic Law Students Association as the beneficiary of the grant.
