(Dec. 6) – South Texas College of Law Houston recently announced that it took home two national alternative dispute resolution (ADR) championships in November.

Student Amanda Gordon won first place at the University of Houston’s Jeffry S. Abrams National Mediator Competition. Gordon’s victory is the second Abrams Competition win for the law school in the four years it has competed in the tournament.

South Texas College of Law Houston students Urvashi Morolia, Chris Piper and Lionel Sims won the top prize at the St. John’s Securities Dispute Resolution Triathlon in New York City. The competition is a join initiative of the Hugh L. Carey Center for Dispute Resolution and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

This is the second time the law school has won the Securities Dispute Resolution Triathlon.

Morolia, Piper and Sims were coached by Lynn Nguyen, assistant district attorney at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office; Seun Adeyemi, attorney at the Luke Law Firm; and Eron Reid, associate at Winget, Spadafora and Schwartzberg.
