(Nov. 9) – The Human Rights Campaign Foundation announced Thursday that five Texas-based law firms garnered top honors in the organization’s 2018 Corporate Equality Index for advancing policies regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer rights.

HRC reports that 23 of businesses headquartered in Texas – including American Airlines, AT&T, Dell, Shell Oil, Southwest Airlines, Texas Instruments and Toyota North America – scored a perfect 100 in their efforts to protect the rights of LGBTQ workers.

The study found that Akin Gump, Andrews Kurth Kenyon, Locke Lord, Norton Rose Fulbright and Vinson & Elkins also achieved top honors with a rating of 100.

The HRC also gave A grades to Baker Botts and Haynes and Boone, which each scored 95 on the index. The study gave passing grades to Bracewell (85) and Jackson Walker (70).

Several national law firms operating in Texas also received perfect scores, including Baker McKenzie, Gibson Dunn, Greenberg Traurig, Holland & Knight, K&L Gates, King & Spalding, Kirkland & Ellis, Latham & Watkins, McDermitt, Sidley Austin, Simpson Thacher, Weil and Winston & Strawn.
