By Brooks Igo

(April 6) – Baker Botts strengthened its oil and gas practice with new lateral partner hire Craig Vogelsang in Houston, the firm announced Thursday.

Vogelsang, who most recently practiced at Winston & Strawn, specializes in upstream and midstream oil and gas development, financing and acquisitions and dispositions. He credited the innovation and leadership at Baker Botts and the firm’s “compelling” platform as motivators to make the move.

“As the legal industry is changing, it was a group that I felt I fit very well,” he said. “Based on my client base, the reputation of the law firm and the depth of practice experience in midstream and upstream transactions, it was a very good fit.”

Vogelsang said that development work in the Permian Basin has kept him busy over the past year. He expects midstream work, particularly in the Permian, to remain active and upstream work to become more robust as oil prices go up.
