(Aug. 6) – Baylor Law School recently announced the addition of Jay D. Rao to its law faculty as a full-time lecturer in its legal writing program.
Most recently, Rao was serving as an adjunct professor of law at UNT Dallas College of Law while also representing two start-up ventures. At Baylor, he will focus on teaching transactional drafting and practice.
Rao, a graduate of the University of Texas McCombs School of Business, received his law degree from Columbia in New York. His first two jobs out of law school were at the prominent corporate law firms Cravath, Swaine & Moore and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, where he represented large financial institutions such as J.P. Morgan and Deutsche Bank. Rao later left BigLaw for the investment banking department of Credit Suisse.
“Jay Rao’s experience as a teacher, scholar and real-world practitioner is invaluable, and we look forward to the fresh perspectives and important insights he will offer to enhance the legal writing program at Baylor Law” Baylor Law Dean Leah Teague said in a statement.
“His business and transactional law experience and expertise will further enrich our nationally recognized faculty and contribute to the collaborative nature of our program.”
