Fitzpatrick Hagood Smith & Uhl partner Uttam Dhillon returns to the public sector to become chief oversight counsel for the U.S. House Financial Services Committee after practicing with the firm for nearly four years. Dhillon will serve under the leadership of Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Dallas.
Prior to joining Fitzpatrick Hagood Smith & Uhl, Dhillon served as chief of the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Counternarcotics Enforcement. He has also worked as an Associate Deputy Attorney General for the Department of Justice, Chairman of the Attorney General’s Anti-Gang Coordination Committee, Chief Counsel for the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, and Policy Director for the House Policy Committee.
While at the firm, Dhillon focused his practice on complex commercial litigation, federal criminal law and appeals.

The House Financial Services committee maintains jurisdiction over issues pertaining to the economy, the banking system, housing, insurance, and securities and exchanges, as well as monetary policy, international finance, international monetary organizations, and efforts to combat terrorist financing.
