(March 11) – Capital Metro, Austin’s regional public transportation provider, recently elected Jackson Walker Managing Partner Wade Cooper the chairman of its board of directors.
Cooper, who has served as a board member since 2014, will lead an eight-member board that is responsible for making policies about the operation, control and management of Capital Metro.
“Wade’s experience as an accomplished attorney and civic leader makes him an excellent choice to lead the Board,” Capital Metro President/CEO Linda S. Watson said in a statement. “In his time with Capital Metro, he has immersed himself into the transit world, providing thoughtful engagement and forward thinking.”
Cooper also currently serves on the boards of the Capitol Area Council Boy Scouts of America and the Austin Symphony. In the past, he has been involved with the CAMPO Transit Working Group and the boards of Envision Central Texas and the Downtown Austin Alliance, where he served as chairman for two terms.
The University of Texas School of Law graduate has been with the firm since 1981 and helped establish the firm’s Austin office in 1997. His practice focuses on commercial litigation, arbitration and bankruptcy matters.
