Voys, Sater, Seymour and Pease announced on Monday that Jeffrey Heller has joined the firm as of counsel in Houston.
Heller was previously operating a consulting business. He retired in 2018 as associate general counsel at BP after working for nearly three decades at the company (and Amoco Corp. before BP’s acquisition in 1999).
At BP, Heller managed the British multinational oil and gas company’s global legal teams responsible for employment and labor law, immigration, data privacy and benefits. He was also a member of the global HR leadership team.
Beginning in late 2014, Heller also managed BP’s legal team supporting its alternative energy businesses, which included wind energy, biofuels and research and investments in alternative energy businesses.
“Through my work with BP, I had the opportunity to work with Vorys attorneys over many years,” Heller said in a statement. “Every experience I had was positive. Making the decision to continue my career at this firm not only provides me the ability to help other companies, but to do so with colleagues who I genuinely enjoy.”
