Akin Gump announced the addition of Houston energy partner Matt Kapinos on Thursday.
Kapinos, a former infantry officer for the U.S. Army, has practiced for the past 11 years at McGuireWoods, where he was deputy head of its energy industry team. He concentrates his practice on project development, acquisitions, divestitures and strategic joint ventures involving upstream, midstream, LNG and traditional and renewable power assets.
“Matt’s experience with EPC matters as well as renewables, where traditional energy companies are increasingly seeking to expand their presence, will be a key differentiator for us,” Christine LaFollette, partner in charge of Akin Gump’s Houston office, said in a statement. “He also brings a solid background in downstream work that will resonate strongly with our clients.”
