Shearman Adds Another Restructuring Partner from Baker Botts

June 24, 2019 Brooks Igo

Shearman & Sterling has added a second restructuring partner from Baker Botts since the beginning of May.

Dallas-based lawyer Ian Roberts, who is listed on the firm’s website as being located in Houston, has rejoined his former colleague Luckey McDowell, who made the move to Shearman on May 1. Roberts has significant experience advising clients in the energy industry on financial restructurings and issues that arise in deleveraging a capital structure.

A graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Roberts started his career as a clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He left for private practice at Baker Botts, where he practiced for a total of more than 10 years.

In between two stints at Baker Botts, Roberts worked in-house for one year at Hewlett-Packard, where he handled turnaround initiatives, dispute resolution and enterprise services transactions.
