September 26, 2019 Brooks Igo

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas recently announced that U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr has named U.S. Attorney Erin Nealy Cox vice chair of the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee (AGAC).

Nealy Cox replaces U.S. Attorney for the District of Utah John Huber as vice chair of the AGAC, which represents the voice of federal prosecutors across the nation and provides advice and counsel to Attorney General Barr on policy, management and operational issues impacting the Offices of U.S. Attorneys.

The AGAC’s priorities, according to the announcement, include combating the opioid crisis, reducing violent crime, protecting the most vulnerable and enforcing the rule of law.

“John’s departure leaves me with big shoes to fill,” Nealy Cox said in a statement. “I’m passionate about serving the Department of Justice and enforcing the rule of law in this country. I am honored by General Barr’s request to continue to serve the AGAC, now as vice chair.”

Nealy Cox also chairs the AGAC’s Domestic Violence Working Group and serves on its White Collar Fraud and Cyber Crime Subcommittees.
