Texas corporate lawyers worked on 232 mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures with a combined value of $285.49 billion between Jan. 1 and Oct. 23.
The deals range from Dallas-based Majority Strategies’ $1 million purchase of Louisiana-headquartered Causeway Solutions to Occidental Petroleum’s $54.4 billion acquisition of Anadarko Petroleum.
The Texas Lawbook’s Corporate Deal Tracker documents every M&A transaction handled by lawyers based in Texas without regard to the location of their clients. For example, more than three-dozen of the deals worked on by Texas attorneys involved no businesses headquartered in the state.
Fifty-four of the transactions were valued at $1 billion or more. Ninety of the deals had a price tag of at least $500 million. There were 70 M&A transactions valued at $100 million or less.

To have complete disclosure regarding our M&A data, The Texas Lawbook now publishes our Corporate Deal Tracker M&A Master List of non-confidential transactions.
This CDT M&A Master List is the result of intense reporting by Texas Lawbook senior M&A writer Claire Poole in Houston and from law firms providing information on the deals their Texas lawyers handle.
Only non-confidential transactions – those in which the names of the buyers, sellers, lawyers, law firms and deal amounts are disclosed – are included in the CDT M&A Master List. The Texas Lawbook uses this list to determine law firm and individual lawyer rankings.
The CDT M&A Master List will be updated at least once a month. Law firms may submit their deals to Claire Poole via email at claire.poole@texaslawbook.net. If you don’t see your transaction on the list, please let us know.
The Texas Lawbook plans to unveil similar master lists involving securities offerings and confidential M&A deals later this year.
