Dallas law firm Munck Wilson Mandala announced a new measure this week to incentivize their employees to get a Covid-19 vaccine.
In a firmwide memo, Bill Munck established a policy that provides an additional day of paid time off for employees who supply proof of being fully vaccinated. The full dispatch reads:
“Employers are allowed, by law, to condition new or continued employment on being vaccinated, with exceptions for accommodation of disability or religious belief. MWM is opting to defer that approach and instead choose to encourage our valued employees to be vaccinated by offering an added day of paid time off (PTO) to each employee who supplies proof of being fully vaccinated. The day off may be taken, upon request and with your supervisor’s OK, at any time before the end of the calendar year. To qualify for this extra paid day off, just show your completed vaccination card to our HR Manager, Bi Ramirez.”
On the first day of the announcement, human resources manager Ramirez reported eight employees immediately showed her their completed vaccination cards.
“We have had a wonderful response. An overwhelming majority of employees have expressed gratitude for the extra day off,” Ramirez said in an email. “Employees are EXCITED to use this extra PTO day and already have plans on when to use it.”
