Gray Reed looked outside of its Texas roots for its latest recruiting success.
The 150-lawyer Texas firm, which has offices in Houston, Dallas and Waco, announced Monday that former Eastern District of Missouri prosecutor and FBI special agent Anthony Box has joined the firm in Dallas.
Box will represent businesses and high-net-worth individuals in civil and criminal tax controversies, white-collar defense cases, regulatory investigations and enforcement actions, and compliance matters.
As an assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Missouri, Box led federal tax investigations and prosecutions and handled cases involving identity theft, illegal guns, drugs and violent crimes. The Internal Revenue Service recognized him last year for Outstanding Service and Dedication to a Criminal Investigation.
Box’s federal law enforcement experience includes serving as an FBI special agent for nearly a decade, where he was a financial crime investigator and computer forensics examiner. He also previously led the conviction integrity unit as a prosecutor in the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office.
The 1990 Morehouse College alum served on active duty in the Army as a tank commander and later as a JAG officer in Iraq. He earned his law degree in 2005 from Saint Louis University School of Law.
In addition to his extensive and varied experience in the public sector, Box, a licensed CPA, spent three years at a Big Four accounting firm overseeing multimillion-dollar financial audits and investigations.
