DBJ: Generational Group Adds Tech Consulting through Recent Acquisition

February 8, 2022 Catherine Leffert of the Dallas Business Journal

Local investment bank and advisory services firm Generational Group is adding technology consulting to its suite of services through a recent acquisition of local company Precocity, the latest step of a years-long effort to broaden offerings.

President and CEO Ryan Binkley said the Richardson-based firm’s acquisition expands its services to consult client companies through their technology initiatives. He added he expects the technology consulting service to eventually become one of the company’s largest, if not the largest, divisions.

“As we thought about one of the greatest needs that clients have, that’s technology,” Binkley said. “The ability to take ideas that they have, and try and figure out, “How they are going to interface with their customers better? Take their clients through a more fluid digital experience? How can software and cloud engineering data be used to help enhance that customer experience for them?'”

Precocity focuses on software and data engineering, artificial intelligence and machine learning, web and mobile development and UX research and design. Binkley said the addition  is part of Generational’s efforts to become a global consulting firm, and he said he thinks the growth potential of the service is “unlimited.”

Generational has expanded its practice from lower-middle-market mergers and acquisitions to advisory services across life cycles, adding consulting and wealth management over the last few years to meet clients’ needs. M&A services currently make up the bulk of Generational’s business, but the firm focused on expanding its newer offerings.
