Houston healthcare partner Sara Brinkmann has moved her practice to King & Spalding, the firm announced Tuesday.
Brinkmann was previously at Reed Smith. She represents healthcare providers and other clients in litigation and investigations, with a focus on False Claims Act matters.
She also counsels clients on regulatory and compliance issues, including the Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute and other fraud, abuse and anti-corruption laws.
“Sara is well known in the Texas market, particularly on the issue of healthcare fraud,” Tracie Renfroe, managing partner of King & Spalding’s Houston office, said in a statement. “She’ll be an excellent addition to our office in a key area of strategic growth for the firm.”
Over her career Brinkmann has represented Walgreens, Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine.
Most recently, she was part of a Reed Smith team that successfully defended Walgreens at the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in a qui tam suit. In its March 2 ruling the federal appeals court affirmed the district court’s dismissal of all FCA claims.
Brinkmann received her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. She clerked for U.S. District Judge David Hittner in Houston before beginning private practice in 2011 at Fulbright & Jaworski (now Norton Rose Fulbright).
