(Jan. 4) – Akin Gump announced its new partner class today. Four Texas lawyers are among the 12 newly minted partners firmwide.
John Bain and Elizabeth Scott are based in the firm’s Dallas office.
Bain, a SMU Dedman School of Law graduate, is based in Dallas and represents purchasers, sellers, landlords and tenants in real estate transactions, including the financing, refinancing, purchase, sale, management and leasing of hotels, office buildings, multi-family projects, restaurants, industrial properties, manufacturing facilities and raw land.
Scott’s civil litigation practice includes an emphasis on defending lawsuits under the False Claims Act and representing public companies and their officers and directors in securities and privacy litigation, internal investigations and regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings.
Andrew Lehman and Ivana Rouse office in Houston.
Lehman, a University of Texas School of Law graduate, is a member of the firm’s global energy transactions practice, focusing on M&A and private equity investments across the energy space. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he was an investment banker at Wachovia Securities.
Rouse, a SMU Dedman School of Law graduate, is a member of the firm’s investment funds practice, where she advises management companies in connection with fundraising, registration, investment activities, marketing and ongoing compliance and operational issues as well as on internal structuring issues such as mergers, spin-offs, profit-sharing arrangements and seeding transactions. She has developed a niche in hybrid funds, energy funds and compensation structures for employees of fund management entities.
