(Oct. 25) – Regina Gregory has been the top lawyer at Houston-based American Midstream Partners for only six weeks, but she has already overseen a $2 billion acquisition.

A 1996 graduate of the University of Oklahoma School of Law, Gregory was named American Midstream’s new general counsel, corporate secretary and senior vice president in September.

Yesterday, the company announced that it had reached a $2 billion merger agreement with JP Energy Partners. The transaction means that American Midstream will have operations in the Permian, Gulf of Mexico, Eagle Ford and Bakken basins.

Gregory spent two years at Fulbright & Jaworski and 20 months at Jones Day practicing energy and environmental litigation. She spent two years at the GC at Frontier Energy Services, five years as the GC at Midstream Energy Services, two years as lead counsel at Chesapeake Midstream and more than four years at the general counsel at Access Midstream.

For the past 22 months, Gregory had been the general counsel at Traverse Midstream Partners in Oklahoma.

Gregory replaces William (Bill) Mathews, who served as American Midstream’s GC for seven years.

“[Regina] is an accomplished attorney with over 20 years of significant legal experience in the midstream space,” American Midstream CEO and Chairman Lynn Bourdon said in a written statement.

“Regina’s legal skills, experience, and leadership capabilities will suit her well to assume this role and help lead the Partnership into the exciting growth we have ahead of us,” Bourdon said. “In addition to her legal acumen, Regina will be a great addition to the American Midstream family, and we are excited to have her join our team.”

Bourdon also thanked Matthews for his years at the company.

“Bill has been an essential part of the executive team since the Company’s inception almost seven years ago and has done an excellent job leading the legal group, while making many contributions to the Partnership overall,” continued Mr. Bourdon. “He leaves American Midstream on a solid foundation and well positioned for future success. We will truly miss Bill and wish him well in his next venture.”
