Andrews Kurth Names 10 New Partners, Eight in Texas

(December 2)—Eight lawyers from Andrews Kurth’s Texas offices are among the firm’s 10 newly promoted partners.

Six of the new partners are in the firm’s Houston office. They are Courtney Cochran Butler, Alison Chen, Courtney Ervin, Giji John, Callie Parker and Alexander White.

Butler’s corporate practice includes representing issuers and underwriters in IPOs and other public offerings and private placements of equity and debt securities and working with public

Chen, a University of Houston Law Center graduate, focuses her practice on federal income taxation of corporations, partnerships (including publicly traded partnerships) and limited liability companies.

Ervin, also a University of Houston Law Center graduate, focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation including contract disputes, business torts, shareholder disputes and insurance coverage.

John’s practice focuses on the development and finance of domestic and international energy projects.

Parker, a University of Texas School of Law graduate, focuses her practice on a broad range of financing and commercial real estate transactions.

White focuses his practice on financing, corporate and real estate matters, including the areas of venture capital, private placement of securities, and mergers and acquisitions in both the health care and energy sectors.

Will Becker, a SMU Dedman School of Law graduate in the firm’s Dallas office, focuses his practice on federal income tax matters and Texas franchise, sales and use tax matters, with an emphasis on real estate, asset securitization, corporate mergers and acquisitions and corporate spin-offs and split-offs.

Meghan Griffiths, a University of Texas School of Law graduate in the firm’s Austin office, focuses her practice on administrative law and litigation, judicial appeals of agency matters and energy regulatory and electric utility law.

Andrews Kurth’s 2014 class of partners will be effective Jan. 1.
