Apache Names David Bernal New VP of Legal

October 18, 2024 Mark Curriden

With the retirement of long-time general counsel Anthony Lannie, Houston-based oil and natural gas producer APA Corporation has named David J. Bernal as its new vice president of legal and acting general counsel.

A former state district judge in Houston, Bernal first joined APA, which is the holding company for Apache Corporation, in 2008 where he has handled commercial litigation matters.

Bernal is a 1995 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center. He practiced litigation for eight years at Baker Botts and then King & Spalding before taking the bench.

“I look forward to David’s leadership and counsel as he takes the helm of the corporate legal function, and I want to personally thank Anthony for his 21 years of dedicated service as general counsel and commitment to APA as he moves into retirement,” John J. Christmann, IV, CEO of APA Corporation, said in a written statement.
