(January 30) — The Austin Bar Foundation will honor Winstead PC founder Pete Winstead at its 11th Annual Gala on Feb. 1 with the Distinguished Lawyer Award. Winstead is one of two honorees who will be recognized for their commitment to the legal profession and the community.

After founding his firm in 1973 in Dallas, Winstead opened the firm’s Austin office in 1987. He and his wife Tomi have become involved with a number of civic and charitable organizations including the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, the board of KLRU-TV (Austin’s PBS station), YMCA of Austin, the Austin Symphony Orchestra, SafePlace, Ronald McDonald House and the local Boy Scout’s Council. He was named Austinite of the year in 2004 by the Greater Austin Chamber of commerce.

The University of Texas School of Law graduate continues to advise clients on many corporate and business transactional matter, but primarily serves in a planning strategies role.
