(May 2) – Baker Botts announced on Tuesday that it received the Harris County Bench Bar Pro Bono Award in the large firm category for the second year in a row.
A committee of Harris County judges and Houston Bar Association President Alistair Dawson selected Baker Botts for the award in large part for the 1,131 pro bono hours the firm performed in support of Hurricane Harvey relief.
Lawyers at Baker Botts worked with Lone Star Legal Aid and Houston Volunteer Lawyers to put firm lawyers and volunteers from other law firms in shelters immediately after the storm. The firm also arranged loaner computers for Lone Star and other relief organizations, hosted a training program for more than 700 volunteer attorneys and answered calls from nearly 200 Houston citizens during a Hurricane Harvey LegalLine program it hosted.
