(Aug. 1) – Baker Botts recently announced that Dallas litigation partner Van Beckwith has been selected as a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers (IATL). He is one of three lawyers in Texas to be inducted into IATL’s summer 2016 class.
“To be recognized by my peers and the judiciary and inducted into a group of such high caliber trial lawyers is a huge honor and really speaks to the exceptional quality, breadth, and training of trial lawyers at Baker Botts,” Beckwith said in a statement. “It is also a testament to the outstanding clients we serve in courtrooms around the country.”
Beckwith, a graduate of SMU Dedman School of Law, is a member of Baker Botts’ Executive Committee, a leader of its class actions practice and the partner-in-charge of the firm’s global recruiting initiatives.
Last year, Beckwith successfully defended Russian natural gas giant OAO Gazprom in a $1.37 billion trade secrets case.
