(Aug. 2) – Baker McKenzie announced recently that Tom Kruse, former head of litigation at Baker Hostetler, has joined the firm’s Houston office as a partner.

Kruse, who led his former firm’s litigation practice for 10 years, noted Baker McKenzie’s global reach in more than 40 countries and commitment to using innovative technology as motivating factors to lateral over.

“We are using technology, including growing trends in communicating to advise our clients, at the forefront of law firms,” he said.

Kruse, who focuses his complex commercial litigation practice in the financial, energy, engineering and oil field services industries, stressed the importance of being an adviser to clients and providing non-litigation alternatives early in the process to resolve a dispute.

Recently, he recently handled a three-week jury trial in Harris County representing an independent minority investor in a company that manufactures medical technology in a case that involved breach of fiduciary duty and theft of trade secrets claims.

Kruse and his team prevailed on each issue and obtained a turnover order to his client for full ownership of the stock in the company and all the patents and trade secrets.
