Baker & McKenzie Elects 19 New Partners in North America, Four in Texas

Baker & McKenzie has 19 newly promoted partners in North America, including four in Texas, effective Jan. 1, 2013. The new Texas partners are:

Kevin Maher, whose practice focuses on complex corporate matters, with an emphasis on cross-border transactions involving public and private companies. His experience extends to cross-border joint venture transactions, international acquisitions, multijurisdictional corporate reorganizations and international franchising and distribution transactions. He is in the firm’s Dallas office and is a 2002 graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Law.

Laura O’Rourke, whose practice focuses on securities litigation and enforcement. She represents public and private companies and their officers and directors in federal and state courts, and before federal and state securities agencies. She is in the firm’s Dallas office and is a 2002 graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Law.

Daniel Ro-Trock, whose practice focuses on corporate and securities law where he represents companies in domestic and multi-jurisdictional transactions, including mergers, equity and asset acquisitions and dispositions, public and private securities offerings, corporate governance issues, proxy solicitation, corporate restructurings, venture capital financings, executive compensation, general corporate and securities law matters, as well as the reporting obligations of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, NYSE Euronext and SIX Swiss Exchange. He is in the firm’s Houston office and is a 2004 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center.

Caryn Smith, whose practice focuses on general tax planning, tax advice for mergers and acquisitions, transfer pricing, and international tax planning for global and regional tax minimization. She is in the firm’s Houston office and is a 2005 graduate of South Texas College of Law. Smith also earned her LL.M. in Taxation from Northwestern University School of Law in 2006.
