Baker McKenzie has a longstanding history working with companies in Texas. We have full service offices in Dallas and Houston with approximately 120 lawyers in-state. We are proud of two recent milestones — Dallas marking its 30th anniversary in 2016 and Houston celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2017.
Growth
We have focused on strategic growth based on client needs and have expanded practices in energy, litigation, corporate, intellectual property, tax and franchising. Recent and notable new hires include litigation partners Michelle Hartmann and Tom Kruse and energy partners Denmon Sigler and the Firm’s Global Head of LNG David Lang.
In February this year, the Dallas office moved to 1900 N Pearl Street. The new space has an innovative layout with natural light, open workspaces and modern amenities for our colleagues and clients.
Deals & Cases
A few notable recent Texas transactions:
Advised Cardtronics Inc., the world’s largest ATM provider, on its redomiciliation from Delaware to the United Kingdom, one of the largest and most complex transactions in the company’s history.
Represented 3D market leader RealD Inc. in its patent infringement action against competitor MasterImage at the International Trade Commission. The Commission issued cease and desist orders directed at MasterImage.
Advised Baylor College of Medicine in its joint venture with Miraca Holdings Inc., a Japan-based international health care company. The college and Miraca now jointly own and govern a clinical genetics diagnostic laboratory located in Houston’s Texas Medical Center.
Community
Helping communities where we operate is an integral part of Baker McKenzie. This year, we are hosting in Texas the Firm’s annual Children’s Rights Summit on June 12, an event that brings together industry practitioners, nonprofit groups, lawyers, and corporations to discuss how we can better the lives of youth in the state and across the country.
