(May 31) – Greenberg Traurig announced last week that bankruptcy and restructuring pro Lenard Parkins has joined the firm’s Houston office as a shareholder. He will split time in the firm’s New York office.
Parkins, who was most recently at Haynes and Boone, represents clients in the energy, real estate and manufacturing industries. He said he was drawn to Greenberg Traurig’s “tremendous domestic and international bankruptcy practice.
“My restructuring and bankruptcy experience and practice will be very complementary with the platform and the firm’s bankruptcy practice,” he said. “I will be able to be part of teams that can materially expand the platform and practice.”
The University of Houston Law Center alumnus concentrates his practice on representing large- and medium-sized corporations, bondholders, indenture trustees, secured lenders, numerous funds, oil and gas interest holders, and creditor committees in financial restructurings, litigation, workouts and formal reorganization cases.
Parkins said the two most interesting cases he has handled in the past year involved representing Related Midwest in the Chicago Spire skyscraper bankruptcy and representing Spectrum Origination in the RREEF bankruptcy case in San Antonio.
“Both required implementing some cutting edge strategy to achieve the targeted results in short periods of time,” he said.
