(February 5) – Blank Rome recently announced the addition of corporate partner John Adkins, who is joining the Philadelphia-based firm’s Houston office from Strasburger & Price.
Adkins also has experience working inside a corporate legal department. He was senior vice president and general counsel of Houston-based First Heights Bank and associate general counsel and corporate secretary of American General Corporation.
“I’m excited to build on my foundation of work here in Houston with the Firm’s support and growing, national platform,” Adkins, a University of Texas School of Law graduate, said in a statement. “I also look forward to working alongside my former classmate and longtime friend, Barry Abrams, who has the highest level of respect among the Houston legal community and beyond.”
The lateral move comes as the firm prepares to move this month into the Calpine Center on 717 Texas Ave. It is a 25 percent increase of square footage from Blank Rome’s current location at 700 Louisiana St. with more than double the current number of attorney offices, according to Kevin Hodges, the senior managing director at commercial real estate firm Savills Studley who represented the firm.
Blank Rome’s Houston Administrative Partner Barry Abrams said in a statement that the move into larger office space demonstrates the firm’s long-term commitment to Texas. The firm currently has 16 lawyers in Houston.
