CDT Roundup: M&A Moves Ever-So-Slightly Outside the Data Center Orbit

The week ended Aug. 1 saw 14 deals with $22 billion in reported value. There were 16 deals thr prior week, but for half that amount: $10.7 billion. And this time last year, the CDT Roundup saw 17 deals for $19 billion.

As usual, a $14 billion data center deal in El Paso leads the pack alongside an abundance of M&A transactions with potential data center spin: a $2.2 billion Permian upstream stock swap, a deSPAC merger by a critical metals recycler, a $40 million fund raise by a Plano AI startup, a developer of hard- and software for data pipeline management, a hot-dip galvanizer used in cabling infrastructure, an energy wholesaler and the sale of a couple of industrial maintenance, repair and operations providers.
