(March 29) – Longtime Bracewell attorney Gregory M. Bopp has been named as the firm’s managing partner.

Bopp will take the reins July 1, succeeding Mark C. Evans who served as managing partner for eight years. Evans will become co-chairman of the firm, along with Patrick C. Oxford.

The announcement, made Monday, marks the second big management shuffle for the Houston-based firm this year. In January, the firm announced that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was leaving to join a competitor, Greenberg Traurig.

Bopp’s practice focuses on tax structuring, M&A, joint ventures and capital markets transactions for midstream and upstream energy clients, including master limited partnerships. Bopp has led a handful of multi-billion-dollar deals for Kinder Morgan, including the energy giant’s $44 billion series of acquisitions including El Paso Pipeline Partners in 2014 and its $3 billion purchase of Hiland Partners last year.
