(Oct. 19) – Clay Scheitzach, a leading voice for corporate compliance in the Texas business law community, is leaving his post as associate general counsel and corporate compliance chief at Conduent to become the new general counsel at Tempe-based DriveTime.
A 2000 graduate of Texas Tech University School of Law, Scheitzach has been the highest ranking lawyer in Texas for Conduent – formerly known as Xerox Business Services – for several years. He is widely recognized as an expert on federal regulatory matters involving the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Scheitzach, who officially announced his resignation Wednesday, will oversee a corporate legal team of about 25 at DriveTime, which is a multibillion-dollar business involved in subprime auto lending.
“I love Dallas, but this is a fantastic opportunity with an amazing management team and a company with an amazing culture,” he told The Texas Lawbook in an exclusive interview. “It is an opportunity I could not pass up.”
Scheitzach, who also has an MBA in Finance, was a lawyer at Bracewell for five years before he joined the corporate legal department of Dallas-based ACS in 2007. He stayed with the company when Xerox acquired ACS in 2009 for $6.5 billion. Last year, Xerox changed the name of its business services operations to Conduent.
“I’ve been in the same office for 11 years with three different companies,” he said.
Scheitzach’s last day at Conduent is Nov. 3 and he starts with DriveTime on Nov. 13.
