Dallas Business Court Jury Rejects Synergy’s $100M Claims, Orders $1.5M Refund to Blackbrush

October 22, 2026 Alexa Shrake

After deliberating for about seven hours, Dallas County jurors in the Texas Business Court rejected fraud and breach-of-contract claims by Synergy Thermogen against Blackbrush Oil & Gas and affiliated investors, including a refund of the $1.5 million the investors had put into the clean-energy developer.

The 12-member jury found that Synergy and its founder, Rich Halvorson, fraudulently induced Blackbrush and its affiliated investor entity, Synergy NC Investors, to enter into an advisory agreement, awarding the defendants a full refund of their capital investment.
