(Feb. 1) – Fort Worth law firm Kelly Hart & Hallman recently announced that David Morales, former general counsel to the Governor of Texas, has joined the firm’s Austin office as a partner.
Morales, a St. Mary’s University School of Law graduate, was most recently the deputy general counsel to the Board of Regents of the University of Texas System. He focuses his practice on complex litigation, administrative law and public and higher education law.
As general counsel to the Governor of Texas from 2011 to 2014, Morales served as chief legal counsel on more than 1,600 legislative bills passed during the 83rd Legislative Session. He also advised the governor on all criminal justice issues and managed in-house and outside counsel.
Prior to becoming general counsel to the Governor of Texas, Morales served as Texas’ deputy attorney general for civil litigation and deputy first assistant attorney general.
