The Dallas Bar Association announced this week that it has received awards from the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association recognizing its programs and newsletter.
The State Bar’s Local Bar Services Committee gave the DBA its Award of Merit for outstanding services to its members and the community and the Outstanding Partnership Award for the Texas High School Mock Trial Program, which celebrated its 40th year recently.
The State Bar also honored the DBA official newsletter Headnotes with two Star of Achievement Awards for articles on family law and mental health awareness.
The series on family law included articles written by Dawn Budner of Calabrese Budner; Elizabeth Brandon and Victor Vital of Barnes & Thornburg; and Bryan Ballew and Constance Mims of the Beal Law Firm.
The articles on mental health were penned by Terry Bentley Hill; Michael Hurst of Lynn Pinker Cox & Hurst; and Kelly Rentzel, who is the general counsel of Texas Capital Bank.
The American Bar Association selected the DBA as the recipient of the E. Smythe Gambrell Award for Professionalism for its Day of Civility program. One of the judges of the award said the program “represents an exemplary and innovative approach to educating lawyers about the importance of professionalism and civility in carrying out their legal responsibilities.”
